Title: The Credibility Of The Anglican Model Of A Christian University In A Secular And Multi-Faith Society
Author: Prof. Brian Gates, St Martin's College, Lancaster
Abstract: This article provides some preliminary definitions of the religious frames of reference in which CUAC operates nationally and globally. It goes on to identify some key areas for developing the distinctiveness of Christian Universities. And finally it asks what we might want our critics to expect as the tell-tale outcomes of an institution claiming effectiveness as a Christian University. Drawing on experience of a publicly funded Church of England College, its immediate context and exemplification are Anglican and British, but its horizons are also universal.
